Gablemarine UK Package Offers

CE is but one part of the import process.  Like you, we want to know the bottom line cost of any import project, including all the costs associated with making a craft compliant and suitable for use in Europe.  Aside from the moving the craft within and from the USA, this generally includes the CE assessment, rectification of non-conformities and conversion of the AC electrics to run on 230v AC.  For craft imported to or transiting through the UK we offer tailored packages which include the supply and fitting of high quality components to turn your turn-key US craft into a fully compliant, turn-key European craft.  Click on the following link for details of these UK Package Offers.

What is CE and does it apply to me?

If you're importing a recreational craft from outside the EEA then you will need to have the craft CE marked before you place it on the market (if selling) or in the water (if using).  There are some exemptions. Click on the links below for:

When and Where should CE be done?

For boats routed via the UK or Holland, there is no advantage to undertaking the boat CE marking in the USA.  If routed though other EEA countries it is wise to have the boat CE marking done in the USA, so that the process is complete before the boat arrives.

We offer CE marking services worldwide.

What is the CE process?

Each boat must be personally inspected, on behalf of the EU Notified Body.  From inspection to completion, of the relevant paperwork, normally takes between one and three weeks depending on workload, both for Gablemarine and our Notified Body.  Click the following links for:

What about emissions?

Since 2006, emissions have played a significant part in the boat CE marking / boat CE proofing of craft and can represent the single greatest cost where conformity issues exist.  Generally speaking, few if any engines of 10 years or more are likely to meets the emissions requirements and must thus be replaced to achieve conformity.  This is particularly the case for diesel engines.  Click the following links for:

What are the costs involved?

Our boat CE marking service quote normally includes travel, certification fees and other expenses incurred in making the assessment.  We do not charge extra.  What we quote is what you pay.

Our rates and terms vary slightly depending on whether the inspections are performed in the UK, US or elsewhere in Europe.

Boat CE proofing for a small sports boat in the UK starts at around GBP 1,140 rising to GBP 1,750 for a mid sized sports cruiser.  Displacement motor boats and sailing yachts are more, largely due to the complex systems onboard and the desire to claim conformity in the higher (A/B) design categories. What other works may be required?

Inevitably there will be some non-conformities to address as well as other alternations, which though not required are sensible. Click the following links for:
