Gablemarine and HPIvs, a UK Notified Body

HPI Verification Sevices (HPIvs) is a UK Notified Body (# 1521), licenced to issue CE certification in relation to the Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) 94/25/EC as amended by 2003/44/EC.

As a UK Notified Body, the operations of HPIvs are overseen and audited by the UK Standards Authority (UKSA).

HPIvs operates on a hub and spokes principle, with a core staff located in Oxford, UK and a number of qualified assessors located worldwide. Gablemarine is one such assessor and we are authorised by HPIvs to undertake CE assessments covering all recreational craft, including all Modules and Design Categories, as well as noise testing and stability.

In practice, Gablemarine assess craft worldwide and create the technical documentation required to demonstrate compliance. This is documented in the form of a Technical Construction File (TCF) which Gablemarine supplies to HPIvs. In parallel with HPIvs, Gablemarine creates the Owners Manual, Declaration of Conformity and other documents in addition to preparing the CE Plate, CIN and other labels required.

Gablemarine works very closely with HPIvs to ensure that compliance issues are highlighted early and fully understood. This close working relationship ensures a quick turn around for CE work as well as the highest quality service for clients.

As a 'private buyer' with little knowledge of importing a boat from the US to Europe, Gable Marine helped me through all the technical aspects and legal jargon. They were generous with their advice and time pre purchase, which enabled me to modify the boat in the US (cheaply) to enable the EU certification to take place smoothly. Bilge pump, and battery fittings etc. I would happily use Gable Marine again and am happy to recommend them to anyone else in need of their services.
