Hull

Mahogany carvel planking on steamed oak frames.  Traditionally built by Woodnuts, IOW

Hull was stripped and epoxy splined in approx 1995.  Caulking was remived and timber splines glued (with WEST epoxy) between planks to form a ridgid structure.  Hull was coated with WEST epoxy inside and out and faired.  Not only does this result in a high stength stable hull, it also allows the hull to be faired.

Note : Quantum are and remain the number one choice for classic as well as modern yachts and have proved their worth to us.  Our large spinnaker (affectionately referred to as ‘big yellow’ was cut down from a sail originally used (briefly) on a Corby 35 (which won the round Britain race).  Big Yellow suits Leonie well and is relatively flat cut so can be used for reaching as well as running.

Note : Garhauer are manufactured in the US from stainless steel to a deign that is commonly selected for classic boats.  These are exceptionally good blocks which both look good and functional well for racing.  These blocks were specially imported by the current owners from the USA.

Note: The galley area offers full standing headroom and is well equipped for cruising and use at sea when heeled.  The Taylors stove is safer than LPG and when mastered is as easy to use.

Note: This is a very effective setup as it provides clear view to helmsman and crew alike and the ability to select and display up to eight data feeds is particularly useful.  Each Multi can display 1, 2 or 4 data feeds.  Typically we would use one to display speed and depth together.  The Cetrek TACK is also useful when sailing close hauled.
